Archimedes Features

The Simergent Archimedes system is a disruptive device designed to drastically reduce the complexity, cost, and infections associated with performing home peritoneal dialysis.

GAME-CHANGING EASE OF USE

Our Archimedes automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) device is designed to be far less intimidating for new patients to learn to use and troubleshoot independently. Rather than a monochrome text display commonly used in leading APD cyclers, we anticipate faster training with fewer nursing staff using our easy to follow graphics and animations. Archimedes guides patients through all of the setup and alarm troubleshooting steps, reducing the need to memorize.

Experienced Archimedes users can connect the tubing set and start therapy in less than 5 minutes after powering up the device.

Archimedes is nearly silent during most of the therapy, compared to frequent hums and clicks of other devices. Currently, 68% of PD patients are dissatisfied with the amount of noise their cyclers make while trying to sleep.

The patent-pending gravity delivery mechanism is designed to reduce drain pain experienced by up to 28% of PD patients to allow patients to sleep well during this nocturnal therapy. Our suction pressures during drain phases are up to 74% to 84% lower than the maximum pressures specified by other leading APD cyclers.

INFECTION PREVENTION TECHNOLOGY

Archimedes includes a patented solution line connector using a shrouded fluid path designed with the potential to reduce peritonitis infections due to touch contamination. Peritonitis is currently the #1 cause for PD patients to transition to hemodialysis.

Studies have not yet been conducted to make any claims about PERITONITIS infection prevention efficacy

IMPROVED PATIENT EXPERIENCE

Archimedes offers world-class patient usability features. Our system promotes mobility within the home while performing dialysis, thus addressing the common problem with current APD cyclers in which patients complain of feeling trapped in their bedroom.

Our goal is to make it easier to support patients to dialyze in their preferred environment in the home. Chronic kidney disease and dialysis therapy should no longer be a barrier to living a normal life.

The Archimedes system is not FDA approved and is not yet available for sale.
