Simergent is presenting a poster and a presentation on Patient and Nurse Preferences between Archimedes™ and Existing PD Cyclers at ISPD 2022.
Features of highest importance were mobility of device within the home during dialysis, near silent noise level, setup time, and vertical coat‐rack sized device/bags. Cycler features mapping to the Archimedes™ cycler scored 98% appeal (patients). Features similar to current cyclers and a Point of Care concept were rated quite low comparatively (29‐36% appeal‐patients). Similar overall attribute/feature appeal ratings were found for nurses and patients.
Features similar to those contained within Simergent’s Archimedes™ cycler scored far higher than features similar to those found within existing APD cyclers due to patient and nurse preference for its mobility within the home, near‐silent operation, setup time, and coat‐rack style orientation. Considerations of patients as the “end users” of APD should be strongly considered in development and determination of which cycler is prescribed for the home.
